In 2016, ALCOR began the transition to the ENFit® Administration Sets, as part of the global effort to improve patient safety.

Reducing the risk of misconnection requires a complete design change with correlating standards established and adopted worldwide across the industry.  Beginning in 2016, ALCOR administration sets will transition to the ENFit® connector as part of the global effort to improve patient safety. ENFit®:

Under ISO 80369 standards, new design changes and standards are being implemented internationally to reduce the risk of tubing misconnections between various delivery systems. Enteral nutrition is the first clinical field to transition to using the new connector.

In 2016, ENFit® connectors have been made available to ALCOR Scientific customers.  ENFit® connectors are enteral specific and reduce the risk of injury and death as a result of tubing misconnection.

The ENFit® connector:

  • Does not allow connectivity with any other connector for any other clinical use
  • Provides a locking feature that signals the appropriate connection and stays in place
  • Administration sets and syringes have a female connector end that fit into a male patient-access feeding tube port
