Carlo Ruggeri, Founder

Mr. Carlo Ruggeri is a private healthcare investor with significant experience in developing and operating emerging companies, having served in senior management positions with various U.S. and European healthcare companies.

Mr. Ruggeri is a Sponsor of Trevi Health Ventures LP and in his recent past he has been on the board of Sicor, Sequitor Medical Technologies and CVP.

Previously, he served as CEO of Vega Biomedical, a company which he developed and expanded and which was later acquired by Elan Corporation in 1990.

From 1990 until 1997 he served as the President at Elan Pharma Inc, where he had world-wide responsibilities for Elan’s diagnostic and enteral nutrition business.

Karla Ruggeri, President

Mrs. Karla Ruggeri Natale received a Bachelor of Arts in Modern Languages from Providence College in 2008, with a concentration on Italian Studies. While receiving her degree, she spent a semester studying at the American Institute of Foreign Study in Rome in 2007.

After graduation, Karla joined OST Medical as an International Sales and Marketing Representative, and within three years had quadrupled the company’s international sales.

After the merger of OST Medical and Diagnostic Systems Corp. in 2011, Karla’s management responsibilities increased greatly with regards to the overall operations of ALCOR Scientific. She has spear-headed every marketing campaign, including advertisements and trade shows, for both the Enteral and Diagnostic product lines domestically and internationally.

In addition to her extensive Sales and Marketing activities, she also oversees every aspect of ALCOR’s Commercial Operations including Customer Service, Technical Support, Manufacturing, and Quality Assurance.

Peter Sacchetti,
Executive Vice President & CTO

Mr. Peter Sacchetti was formerly a senior executive in Elan Pharma where he oversaw the enteral and diagnostic products development. In 1999, he developed the first enteral devices which were to become the foundation of ALCOR enteral product line.

Mr. Sacchetti has over 30 years experience in management, engineering, and quality assurance in the medical, automotive and aerospace industry and has a number of patents applicable to these fields.

Robert Bert,
General Manager, Diagnostic Division

Mr. Robert “Bob” Bert began his career with General Dynamics in a position that exposed him to all facets of nuclear shipbuilding, including materials management, design, QC, planning and production. A milestone of his time spent at General Dynamics was on the Lead Design and Implementation teams that successfully tested and launched the first MRP production system in the shipbuilding industry.

After leaving General Dynamics, Mr. Bert became the Owner and President of Cottage Gallery, LTD, where his company specialized in the resale of high-end works of art. Cottage Gallery was later acquired by Imagine Fine Arts Gallery, and in the process became one of New England’s largest full service galleries and purveyors of fine art.

In 2002, he was hired as the Director of Operations for DS Diagnostics, which later became Diagnostic Systems. Following the merger of OST Medical Inc. and Diagnostic Systems in 2010, Mr. Bert served as ALCOR’s Senior Vice President of Sales until his 2018 promotion to General Manager of the Company’s Diagnostic Division.

Michael Solomon, CFO/COO

Mr. Michael Solomon is a financial professional with over 25 years of banking and finance experience. Most recently, Mr. Solomon served as Senior Vice President and Senior Relationship Manager in the Commercial Lending Division at Customers Bank, where he managed all aspects of banking relationships for small and middle market companies.

Previously, Mr. Solomon served as the Executive Director for Operations for the State of Rhode Island General Treasurer’s Office. He was responsible for managing, planning, and the overall leadership for all administrative and operational policies and procedures for the Treasury Department inclusive of: budget and financial controls; business operations and the state’s cash accounts; facilities and purchasing; management information systems; personnel as well as the development and implementation of new programs and services. Responsibilities also involved complete oversight of banking relationships and serving as the General Treasurer’s Designee on various boards and commissions with delegated signature authority to act on the General Treasurer’s behalf.

Mr. Solomon holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a Finance Concentration from Boston University and a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Rhode Island.
